"Well, I stand today, again, in support of the State of Israel that is under assault from rockets from Gaza. Well over six to seven hundred rockets have been launched into the State of Israel. And these are assaults against the innocent families in the state. But the real reason why I stand is it is time that I call out the Congressman from Minnesota and the Congressman from Michigan who continually send out their anti-Semitic and false narrative tweets and messages on this issue. We need to stand with the State of Israel and show our support on a regular basis and not allow them to control the narrative. So I demand that my colleagues in Washington start calling them out for this and hold them accountable for the things that they say and make sure this doesn’t continue. Thank you."

I'd like to welcome, along with those students from Oak Grove District 68, their Superintendent Loren Baele, who is here with a very special guest. He's an unsung hero, Mr. Gerald Beckette. Gerald is turning 85 years young in just about a week. And he is retiring from Oak Grove District 68 after 67 years of service, 67 years of what he told me earlier is doing God's work. When he was a teenager living across the street from School District 68, a young mom was concerned about her young child and asked Gerald if he would help the child across the street. And in so doing, started a long career of him helping kids by being a crossing guard for all of these years. Now in recent times, he has not been able to help the kids across the street anymore. But he has continued to do work at the school and he's filled the school with joy through his contagious smile, through his chuckle, and his high-fives. He has always treated the students of Oak Grove like his children. And, as I said, his 85th birthday is on May 13. His official retirement is May 23. When I talked to him earlier I asked him what his hurry was. But he has decided that after 67 years it's time to do something else. And Gerald, let me just say, it is my… it is my privilege to recognize you for a lifetime of dedication to the school children of your community. Thank you for being a shining example of an honorable and faithful Illinoisan. And we wish you the very best in your retirement. Congratulations."
