As cochair of the Taiwan Friendship Caucus, I wanted to make sure that the people of Taiwan both here and abroad know that we share with you the sadness that you experienced during the 7.5 magnitude earthquake that struck Hualien, Taiwan, a place where just this past summer I was able to go and experience the magical beauty of that island and the Taroko National Park. The people of Taiwan are fierce defenders of their democratic principles.
