I think that the Members understand the provision of Rule 96, which I will take the liberty of reading to you now, and if you will pay attention, ah.... you'll be able to cope with the problem of vetoes. In order to over-ride a veto, restore an item or adopt an amendment offerred by the Governor, a member must file a written motion with the Clerk. On the day fol- lowing the filing of such a motion, the motion shall appear on the Calendar in a subheading entitled 'Motion'. This subheading shall appear under each of the categories set forth in Rule 95 and the Motion shall appear under the appropriate category, so the substance of this Rule, Ladies and Gentlemen is that if you want to take action on a veto to restore it, or over-ride it, or adopt an amendment, offered by the Governor, you must file a written motion with the Clerk. "Whereas she was born on February 15, 1907 in Flanigan, Illinois, the daughter of Peter T and Fedie and past on November 4, 1974 in Loyola Hospital in Pontiac, Illinois, and whereas she was a Member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pontiac, the Livingston County Women's Club, the Pontiac Women's Club, the Sumera Shrine's Club, the White Shrine of Jeruselem, and whereas she is survived by a brother, Alan Vesering and three sisters, Mrs. Edna Schneider, Mrs. T. V. Rinks of Flanigan, and Mrs. Herschel Otto; Therefore be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the 77th General Assembly, State of Illinois, that we deeply regret the passing of this fine lady and express our sincere condolences to our colleague, and be it further resolved that a copy of this Preamble and Resolution be presented to him. House Resolution 821. Blair, Choate, et al. Whereas the House and the entire GENERAL ASSEMBLY STATE OF ILLINOIS HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES 4. State of Illinois join family and friends of Genoa Washing- ton in mourning the passing of a fine legislator and a great Public Servant; and whereas he was born in Washington, D.C., the oldest of three children and the only son of Virgil William Washington and Lucy Virginia Bonner Washing- ton, was graduated from Northwestern University with a BS degree and later a Doctor of Jurisprudence, was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1929, eventually becoming first Vice-President of the Cook County Bar Association and whereas, he served his country as well as he did his State, enlisting as a private in the U.S. Army and being dis- charged as a Captain of Infantry; and whereas he repre- sented his country internationally as a delegate to the 12th General Assembly of the United Nations and a Member of the Special Political Committee; and whereas he was a life member and former president of the Chicago Branch of NAACP, life member, Stuart St. Paul CME Church, past master of Richard E. Moore Lodge F and AM, 33rd degree Mason, active member of the United Supreme Council of the Ancient Scottish Rites, and served on the Imperial Council of the Mistic Shrine, all Masonic Associations are Prince Hall affiliated; and whereas he was twice elected as dele- gate to the Republican National Convention; Therefore be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the 77th General Assembly of the State of Illinois that the House and all of Illinois mourn the passing of Genoa S. Washington; and be it further resolved that the Preamble and Resolution GENERAL ASSEMBLY STATE OF ILLINOIS HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES 5. be entered in the Journal of this House."

"Now, Ladies and Gentlemen of the House. Ah... House Resolution 819 is a congratulatory resolution to Bob Hanish, who will retire on December 4 after 36 years as the best Circuit Clerk in the State. House Resolution 820 is a death resolution, memoralizing the death of Mrs. Elsie Hunsicker, the beloved wife of our colleague, Carl Hunsicker. House Resolution 821, as you know, is a death resolution, honoring our beloved colleague, Genoa Washing- ton, and before moving the adoption of these agreed reso- lutions, I'd like to announce to the Republican Members that the conference tomorrow will be at 11:00 AM in Room 212, so please note the Republican Conference at 11:00 AM in Room 212. And now, Mr. Speaker, ah.... we have pre- viously adjourned the Special Session until a quarter to twelve tomorrow, and I now move, with reference to the Resolutions, I move the adoption of the agreed adoption, and out of respect for Genoa Washington and Mrs. Hunsicker, I move, now, that the General Session, do stand adjourned until the hour.... excuse me, I'll withhold that.
