"Mr. Speaker, I may ask to make an announcement that I think is of interest to all Members here. Those of you who were elected or reelected and wish to get your 1983 16 STATE OF ILLINOIS 82ND GENERAL ASSEMBLY HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TRANSCRIPTION DEBATE 142nd Legislative Day December 1, 1982 official plates, the applications are in either the...for the Republican Members in the Speaker's Office, and Linda has the applications, and JoAnn has the applications for the Democrats in Representative Madigan's Office. Now, I am told that you have to have this actual application that they hold. Another one will not do, so you'd be well advised to pick them up. Now, for those of us who will not be returning, there is a new Act which permits the issuance of a retired Legislators plate. The same ladies have the applications for those plates if you wish to avail yourself of them. Now, the provisions of that is the same as that for a vanity plate. The initial application fee is $50 in addition to the regular annual fee, and upon renewal, it will be $10 a year and the regular renewal fee. There...the further provision is that to qualify for the retired Member plate, you must be 55 years old or older with a minimum of 10 years of service. Members who...Members who are retiring this year, however, are eligible at age 55 with eight years' service or at age 62 with four year service. So, to all Members either present, future or past, you may pick up your applications. The Republicans in Speaker Ryan's Office from Linda, the Democrats in Representative Madigan's Office from JoAnn."
