"Thank you. Shall we pray? Eternal God our Heavenly Father, we come at this opening Session in the Name of Jesus. We thank You Dear God, for the roads and the airways that led here. We thank You Dear God, for safe passage that when we arrived on the ground, Dear God we found our friends and our fellow brothers and sisters in good health and good spirit. Lord, we thank You this morning for the opportunity of prayer. For we know that there is power in prayer. We know that there are answers to the many problems that we have. So now Lord we just acknowledge Your power to move in this Body to move among its Members and guide them Dear Lord to make decisions that would bless the lives of the constituents back home. In the precious Name of Jesus, we ask You to guide their minds in all deliberations because we understand, Dear God, that there are many lives that hang in the balance. We understand Heavenly Father that there are many persons that are hurting. Help them to forever be mindful, Dear God, that whatever they do they will affect somebody's lives. And, we ask You in the Name of Jesus to guide them and use them for Your glory. Then, Oh God, we ask special blessing upon the Speaker, upon our Governor, upon the President of this Nation. Lord, that You would be with them as they lead in governing the old ship of state. WHEREAS, The members of this body were deeply saddened by the death of Vito Marzullo, a Chicago political legend and former member of this body; and WHEREAS, On September 10, 1997...1897, Vito Marzullo was born in the Village of Senerchia, Italy, and he emigrated to the United States in 1910 and settled in the west side Chicago neighborhood; and WHEREAS, Upon his arrival, Vito Marzullo declared 'I loved America even when I was in Italy,' and he began working in a factory, then as an apprentice mechanic, and later became a clerk in the County Treasurer's Office; and WHEREAS, Vito Marzullo's service to the Democratic Party began in 1920 when he became a 25th Ward precinct captain, and he piloted his ward through three quarters of the 20th Century, while earning the respect and admiration of men and women in all walks of life throughout the nation; and WHEREAS, In 1941, Vito Marzullo was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives, where he became friendly with another fledgling politician named Richard J.
