A recent, well not recent, but a few years ago, appelate court decision came down saying that buildings that had a complex of twenty-five apartments, even though it wasn't in one single building, would also be required to have the interest earned on security deposits. What happens in my area, we don't have large,tall buildings, that are twenty-five stories bigh or something, but what they do have are maybe eiqht small two- or three- floor buildings each with maybe seven or eight or ten apartments in it. But it's a complex, it's a unit it's a community if you will, of a1l similar ownerships in apartments. And in that case they feel that the landlords don't need to give securitg or interest on that security deposit. So this Bill really clarifies that they would be included also. It codifies what the appellate court has declded and handed down that interest should be paid . We had an Amendment that ctarified any questions that the Illinois Board of Realtors had pertaining to contiguous property. think it's in the form that certainly meets everybody's concerns.
