We had 265 misnamed the State Board of Education for example and the 266 Senate Amendment is a clean up Amendment, a technical 267 Amendment and I would hope that you would join me enthusiastically in concurring with the Senate Amendment."
269 Wennlund: "Well, as a matter of fact, I would like to join you 270 enthusiastically. Maybe you could tell us what the 271 McKinney Act is for those of us who don't know."
273 Currie: "The McKinney Act was legislation that the Feds passed a 274 few years ago providing for help for homeless people and help for victims of AIDS and those dollars continue. I 276 believe the Act was named after a Congressman who himself 277 was the victim of the AIDS epidemic and those funds do come 278 to Illinois for certain set purposes. One, is the education of homeless youth. This task force which 279 Representative Biggert and Biggins joined me in drafting 280 was a recommendation to us from the Junior League to try to 281 make sure that we are getting the best use of those dollars as the state possibly can."

The legislation 306 that we adopted that you sponsored, I think deals with some 307 of the specific of that question and I think it's very 308 important that the Governor signed that Bill. This would 309 not replace that measure in any way, shape, or form, but I 310 think it could give us a better handle on what remaining 312 issues in respect to educating homeless youths we need to confront."

This Bill 1151 already has 20...19 or 20 Amendments on it, that's been 1152 adopted, 19 or 20 and and there is all kind of different 1153 provisions that's educational matters that Joel had in his 1154 committee and the...I only have one Amendment that I'm 1155 interested in that Representative Salvi passed already. 1156 So, that's the only reason why...that I want to make 1157 the...all the provisions not effective immediately. So, it will take less votes. Instead of 71 votes it would require 1159 60, that was my intent."
