“I actually have two announcements. First of all, we have our breakfast at the Sangamo tomorrow, all the Members of the Higher Ed Committee and the Higher Ed Appropriation Committee, any other Member of the House who would be interested I’m sure you’re welcome. We’re gonna be on the second floor of the Sangamo and we have three experts on Higher Ed and Higher Ed funding who are gonna kinda help us understand the Governor’s budget proposals a little bit better. So, I certainly would encourage everyone to be there. It’s at 8:00 and it’ll last ‘til about 10. If you can come and spend any time, I’m sure it’ll be worthwhile. The other announcement was, last week we’re always happy to see accomplishments by Members of the House and last week our good friend, Representative Dan Reitz and his wife Joyce, became grandparents for the first time. So, Dan is no longer Lieutenant Dan, he’s now Grandpa Dan.”

Referring to the gentleman from Macon and the losses that we have had in this Persian Gulf War, it occurs to me that all too often we’ve talked about Illinois residents that have paid the ultimate sacrifice or made the ultimate sacrifice. And it looks to me like the numbers will show that we… we do indeed have a… an inordinate number of our young men and women who are not only involved, but paying the ultimate sacrifice.
