TERM LIMITS (a) A person may not serve more than 5 terms of office as a Representative. SCHEDULE This Constitutional Amendment takes effect upon being declared adopted in accordance with Section 7 of the Illinois Constitutional Amendment Act and applies to the election of members of the General Assembly in 2012 and thereafter. This Constitutional Amendment does not, however, affect the terms of members of the General Assembly elected before 2012.
