"Members are asked to be at their seats. We shall be led in prayer today by Pastor John Tennyson, who is with the Gibson City United Methodist Church in Gibson, Illinois. Pastor Tennyson is the guest of Representative Bennett. Members and guests are asked to refrain from starting their laptops, turn off all cell phones and rise for the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance."

Pastor Tennyson

"Let us pray. We the people of the State of Illinois are grateful to You, Almighty God, who has permitted us to enjoy our political and our religious liberty unparalleled in any other nation. May each citizen and resident of our great state exercise its responsibility as people privileged with liberty. And as citizens, may we work together and support our General Assembly and our state Leaders. Help us to remember that democracy is not sacred just because it is a democracy, that a government of, by and for the people is no stronger than the character and integrity of its citizens and that liberty ultimately depends on the actions of committed and courageous men and women. Technology and social engineering has not solved the basic problems of human greed, intolerance and selfishness. Therefore, oh God, we implore Your divine insight, compassion and Your strength. May these Legislators of this 99th General Assembly challenge, inspire and lead us all to put aside self-interest and pursue the common good of the people of Illinois. We pray now for our Representatives and our Senators that they will write into law the story of the people of Illinois that's measured… that measures its success by Your divine standard of how well it cares for the weakest and the most vulnerable 09900013.docx 1 STATE OF ILLINOIS 99th GENERAL ASSEMBLY HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TRANSCRIPTION DEBATE 13th Legislative Day 2/19/2015 among us. And lastly, we pray for the spouses, the children and families of our Representatives and Senators. Bless them for their sacrifice and their support of our State Government, Amen."

Arthur Turner (D)

"I'd like to introduce my Page for the day. This is Travis Hall. He comes from the 77th District. Interesting thing about Travis is Travis likes first responders. For the last five years on 9/11 he has always brought a meal to the firefighters in our district and I commend him for that. I also welcome his mom, Sue, who's up in the gallery."

Thirteen-year-old Megan Bugg of Coal City, who's currently battling stage 4 of a relatively rare form of cancer, which is most commonly seen in children. Megan's father is Dr. Kent Bugg the superintendent of Coal City School District #1. I ask you to keep Megan and her family in your thoughts and prayers. And Megan, as your Representative, I want you to know that you're not fighting this battle alone. Thanks to all and God bless you. "Ladies and Gentlemen of the House, I filed a House Resolution 124. House Resolution 124 honors the hard work and efforts of sports officials throughout the State of Illinois and quite frankly, throughout the nation. I don't know if you're all aware, but for the last six years, I've been a licensed IHSA high school official. And Ladies and Gentlemen, that you've seen incidents all over Illinois and quite frankly, all over the nation of folks attacking officials and just, quite frankly, not showing the proper appreciation for the hard work and efforts of a lot of these folks. So, I ask everybody in this august Assembly, please, to sign on to House Resolution 124. We want sports to be about our children; we want sports to be about safety. And we want to show appreciation to those folks who, for small amounts of money, trust me, it's small amounts of money, they give of their time and efforts and expertise to officiate the sports contests all over the state. So, please sign on to the Resolution, the House Resolution 124. Thank you."
