And one of those women that we are recognizing is Bonnie Blair, who's a retired speed skater, and one of the most renowned athletes in Olympic history. She competed for the United States in four Olympics in her Olympic career and she won five gold medals and one bronze medal. And she's a local from Illinois. She was raised in Champaign and she's the youngest of six children and graduated from Centennial High School. During the Winter Olympics in 1988, she skated a gold and bronze medal and was the only American to win more than one medal that year. And during the 1996 Winter Olympics, she became the first American woman to win five gold medals. So in honor of women, of March Women's History Month, the women of COWL want to recognize Bonnie Blair."
