I want to welcome to the Chamber two very special people to the 19th Legislative District. Terrence Ewing and Summer Matheson Ewing run a lot of our community events that we have. Two of note that I want to mention are -- are just great programs for our community. They gave out Christmas presents to over two thousand young people in our district that would have never have had Christmas presents and they've given out over five thousand book bags over the last two years in the district. They're extremely compassionate and committed people to our community. They also run a foundation that provides mental health services and social- emotional learning services to our youth in our community. We're forever indebted to 'em and forever grateful for what they do for our community. I just want to give 'em a warm Springfield welcome. Thank you very much, Mr. President.
PRESIDING OFFICER: (SENATOR LINK) Welcome to Springfield and there's always room in the 30th District for you, too. Senator Brady, for what purpose do you rise? 8 STATE OF ILLINOIS 100th GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 13th Legislative Day 2/15/2017

To the appointment, Mr. President.
PRESIDING OFFICER: (SENATOR LINK) To the appointment.
Thank you, Mr. President. I just wanted to share with Members an exchange that took place between myself and Ms. Doll this afternoon in the Executive Appointments Committee. She's being appointed here to head the Division of Banking at the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and I saw on her résumé that she had had, for the last six years, a series of two positions as a lobbyist for banking interests, the Bankers Association and the Financial Services League. And so I asked her if she could expound a little bit on the connection between that work and her prospective role at the Division of Banking. And I was a little bit surprised to hear her say that she had learned in that role that, in her words, the financial industry was overzealously regulated and that that observation would inform her conduct at the Division of Banking. For that reason, I'll be voting No and I wanted to make the Members aware of that fact. Thank you.
