Thank you, Mr. President. Senate Bill 765 is designed to address changes to the reinsurance market for farmers in the State of Illinois. If we don't take this action, due to changes in the reinsurance market, we'll put the insurance policies of more than 50,000 Illinois farmers in jeopardy. The bill attempts to address a problem that we're experiencing in the reinsurance market, and it does it by changing a few words in the law. Specifically, what this bill will do, will require Farm Mutual Insurance Companies to maintain "adequate catastrophic reinsurance" rather than unlimited catastrophic reinsurance. Thank you, Mr. President and thank you, Senator Cunningham, for this piece of legislation. You outlined it very, very well. And as a lot of us sit in here, you may not know just how important of a piece of legislation this is. I represent west central Illinois from Rock Island County, all the way down to the top of Adams County and all the way over to Mason, Menard County line and up to Stark County. I represent a lot of farmland, and if we don't do this, these 51,000 policyholders would lose their coverage at the end of the year. As we all know in this room, whether you're from the inner City of Chicago or anywhere else in the State, agriculture and agribusiness is the number one economic driver in this State and a lot of that is farmers. If farmers lose their policies and they can't be covered, they go belly up. And if they go belly up, we starve, and the world starves. So, this is one of the most critical pieces of legislation this Body has seen in a very long time. And I just want to say thank you again to the sponsor, and I would appreciate an Aye vote.
