Several years later she became the Chief Journal Clerk. While a registered Republican - and very proud of it - during al1 these years she has served this Body: its Presiding Officers, the Secretary of the Senate, of both political parties, faithfully and loyally. I am delighted, obviously, to be here, and I will take the liberty of speaking also on behalf of Cecil Partee and Tom Hynes, who could not be here. There is a song with which I'm sure a1l are familiar, and it's called the ''Wind Beneath my Wings'' and the whole idea is that there are, in life, some unsung people; that al1 of us in the institution itself has a certaën amount of -- of gloryy basks in the spotlight from time to time. And the fact of the matter is that khe people Who really make it workz don 't get any recognition, or very little. Betty Comstock is one of those people. The institution of the Senate of the State of Illinois, the people of Illinois, are better because of what she has done. And we are veryy very grateful. Betty, thank you.
