Yes, sir. Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate, and now that I have your attention, I rise for the purpose of a very important announcement today. My colleague, who normally sits right in front of me here in the Senate chamber and also shares the office next to mine down on M Floor, Senator Bill -- Bill Peterson, passed a very significant milestone last Friday, February 2nd, when he turned -- he's getting close, though. He's passing a lot of things, but he did pass a milestone reaching his sixtieth 6 72nd Legislative Day STATE OF ILLINOIS 89TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT February 6, 1996 birthday last Friday, February 2nd. Thank you, Mr. President. I rise on a point of personal privilege, sir. I want to -- I want to introduce a very special guest to the Senate today who's on the Floor. If I could have your attention please. I want to introduce to the Senate this afternoon Cinnamon, who is obviously a teddy bear, but more importantly, he's an honorary Senator today. He's a student at Trinity Lutheran Grade School in Bloomington, and each week -- each week he travels with a different person in the community, and this week it's my privilege to have Cinnamon with me. And I'm taking pictures of Cinnamon at different places where I will be attending this week. At the end of the week, I will do a chronology of -- of my activities for the entire week, and then next week Cinnamon will go back to his second-grade class and -- and tell them what Senator Maitland did in -- in Springfield this week. Furthermore furthermore, when we go in Session, I wish we would just ring the bell. If the bell is rung then perhaps some Members can hear that. But we were sitting there and Senator Demuzio came in, said, "Well, I'm still waiting for Session to come in." Not knowing that the speaker system is not working.
Senator Jones, your your comments are certainly in order. Let me suggest this: I rang the bell, myself, three times. And I'm sorry about the the PA system in the office, but I rang the bell, myself, three times. Senator Jones.
Only thing only thing I'm pointing out to you is that in the Leadership office there, that I'm not the only one there. Senator Vince Demuzio came in and said, "When we going in?" Well, I said, "I'm waiting for us to go in Session." And and Senator Cullerton's office, it's not working. So, therefore, Members who want to be here in Session are unaware that Session is starting. That's the only thing I'm saying.
