A young lady by the name of Jenny Spangler was one of sixty-one people to make the 1 77th Legislative Day STATE OF ILLINOIS 89TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT February 22, 1996 tryouts for the marathon race for the Olympics. She was listed as sixty-one, and I'm happy to tell you, she came in first in the tryouts. She will be representing America in the Olympics, in Atlanta. I'm particularly glad to see her because Jenny Spangler is my constituent from Gurnee, Illinois. Her coach very able, talented gentleman Willie Rios is a resident of Senator Fawell's district. This is Willie Rios. And Jenny's good friend is Miki Tosic. Miki, where are you? Not a bad looking fellow. And Jenny is thirty-two years of age, weighs ninety-eight pounds. And I want you to know that this girl is so so humble and so wonderful. We we met her last Saturday. She works at Trustmark Corporation. Tom Adams is the vice president there and Mayor of Green Oaks, and I was invited to meet her at the press conference. But she is so talented and so dedicated and disciplined in her work that she is absolutely outstanding. At this time I would like very much to have the pleasure to read a Senate recognition award to Jenny Spangler, and then I'm going to ask Jenny for a few words. "State of Illinois Senate Recognition. It is my great honor to have joining us today students from Mound and Roosevelt School in -- Schools in Decatur, Illinois, who are celebrating Black History Month. These African-American students who have participated in the peer counselor program are visiting us in Springfield today as a part of Black History Month, and we invite all Members who are interested in visiting with the students to a reception in Room 212 at 11 o'clock today, our caucuses permitting, regarding time. I would like the Senate to join me in welcoming these students here today.
