Yesterday, Mr. President, I filed a motion to discharge the Committee on Senate Rules from further consideration of House Bill 2236, and that the bill be assigned to the Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee for a public hearing. Senator Lightford is anticipating, as we all know, her birth of her first child. "And being pregnant is a new experience for me," she writes. "I've not been able to attend the Session this week due to some concerns of my physician. This letter is to inform you that my physician has ordered me to remain on complete bed rest until further notice," although she'll be in constant contact with her secretary and her offices. On a -- on a different matter, I was headed toward the Rules Committee when Senator Halvorson had moved to discharge the committee on House Bill 2236. And are we going to go to that order of business?
No, we are not. And let me just try to explain it to you. As you know, we just received that bill, I believe, last week. We haven't had a good chance to analyze it, to figure out what it costs. Until we do that, I think it's kind of inappropriate. We will eventually get around to that bill. Senator Demuzio.
Mr. -- Mr. President, that's why we have committees. I move that we discharge the Committee on Rules and send that bill to a committee so it'd have a opportunity for a hearing. I think that's why all of these citizens are here today in the gallery.
