It's my honor today to recognize Dorothy Ferguson, our Capitol Nurse for the past twenty-four years. And believe it or not, she's almost been here as long as I have. She obviously gets into things for long hauls. Dorothy and her husband, Leonard, have been married for forty-five years. In addition to taking care of all of us here in the Capitol, Dorothy has six children. Now, you wouldn't believe this, four of the kids were born on the same day - not in the same year, but the same day. That almost qualifies her for the Guinness Book of World Records. So I guess, Dorothy, it's much easier to remember the kids' birthdays, as long as you can keep the kids straight, huh? Dorothy's training as a mother and a grandmother is probably what gives her patience to deal with this bunch of hotheaded legislators that we have around here. She's not all work though. I'm told she has a variety of hobbies. The one that we all can take credit for is she's a first-rate garbage {sic} (garage) sale haggler. I suspect she picks up a few tips during the budget negotiations around here. Dorothy, we'll miss you in retirement. You may not have made it to the Guinness Book of World Records, but you'll always be in our record book. She says she's a little nervous, and I guess I can -- come over here, and I'll -- I'm going to give you this plaque. Would you like to say a few words? I want you also -- I'm going to -- I'm going to make a little confession for her. She's an Episcopalian like I am. And she goes to church every Sunday, and I always say, "Be sure you remember me in your prayers", and she has. And I need all the help I can get.

I know that your family is going to enjoy having you home during the spring from now on. This initiative is to assess the state of our after-school programs in Illinois and to develop a plan for coordinating and achieving a goal of providing after-school services to every school-age child in Illinois. I think all of us recognize - we've talked about this before - that there are lots of duplicates in services throughout State agencies, and I think after-school is something we all feel very strongly about and there are a number of programs. So we'd like to have this task force sort of coordinate and see what's out there so we're not duplicating our services. And I would ask for your adoption of Senate Resolution No. 70.

Senate Joint Resolution 29 encourages the Department of Natural Resources to develop the recently acquired Perry County area for horseback and other field trials and to devote enough acreage on the Perry County area to develop a -- six championship horseback field trial course(s). Also strongly encourages the Department of Natural Resources to consider additional land acquisition in the Hamilton County to expand field sport. And the rationale for this is two things. They create -- they closed Green River, which used to have a lot of the national trials at and, of course, they bought sixteen thousand acres in Perry County.
