The regular Session on the 93rd General Assembly will come to order. Will the Members please be at their desks? Will our guests in the galleries please rise? The invocation today will be given by Dr. Reginald Mills, Pastor of Central Baptist Church, Springfield, Illinois. Dr. Mills.

DR. REGINALD MILLS

(Prayer by Dr. Reginald Mills)

John O. Jones (R)

Please remain standing for the Pledge of Allegiance. Senator Link.

Terry Link (D)

(Pledge of Allegiance, led by Senator Link)

John O. Jones (R)

Madam Secretary, Reading and Approval of the Journal. Senator Woolard.

Larry D. Woolard (D)

Mr. President, I move that the reading and approval of the Journals of Tuesday, March 4th; Wednesday, March 5th; Thursday, March 6th; and Tuesday, March 11th, in the year 2003, be postponed -- arrival of the printed Journals.

John O. Jones (R)

Senator Woolard moves for the postponing and -- reading of the approval of the Journal, pending arrival of the printed transcript. There being no objection, so ordered. Wait a minute. Senator Woolard -- I mean, Senator Rutherford -- Rutherford, rather.

Dan Rutherford (R)

Thank you, Mr. President. If Senator Woolard would yield, I just wondered if he was to have read all of those, as opposed to waiting for them to arrive, how long would it take for him to read ‘em? Is it something that would take, like, a long time or a little bit of time to read ‘em?

John O. Jones (R)

He’s a speed-reader. It shouldn’t take him no more than ten days.

Dan Rutherford (R)

Very good. Well, I can understand now why we are going to postpone reading them. Thank you. 1 STATE OF ILLINOIS 93rd GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 18th Legislative Day 3/12/2003

Madam President, on a point of order. I’m looking around the Floor and you and I are the only Members of the Senate here. And I know that -- I believe when we went over to hear Governor Blagojevich’s Address, there was a time certain of 2 p.m. given for the Senate to stand in recess until. I don’t know if there’s committee meetings going on, but I know -- I think when we came back, we transacted at least some business, even if it was perfunctory. And this place is crazy enough and overflowing with paperwork now, and it’s a -- it’s a -- it’s a big inconvenience for the Members, but let alone the staff, on both sides of the aisle, who are trying to keep track of what’s going on around here. What is our status? What are we doing? Are we coming back at 2? And are there committee meetings going on right now?
