Thank you, Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate. Senate Bill 2724, I want to let everyone know, continues to be a work in progress. This is the follow-up trailer bill to the Affordable Housing Planning and Appeal Act, which was passed last year under the leadership of Representative -- of Representative Slone and Senator Martinez. We know that as -- House Bill 625 from last year. Senate Bill 2724 does five major things in terms of extending deadlines for communities to complete and approve affordable housing plans, and it deals with deadlines by which the Housing Appeals Board can hear appeals. It empowers the Housing Development Authority to determine and publish lists for nonexempt communities this year, provides further definition for low-income and moderate- income housing and clarifies planning requirements for nonexempt communities. The Illinois -- you may recall, the Illinois Municipal League raised some objections, which were justifiable, in my view. And -- it’s our intention to move this bill to the House to be amended in a manner that reflects the consensus which has been -- arrived at. Unfortunately, because of time constraints, we have to move the bill in its current form. It will come back. I’ve given my assurances to Senator Watson that this is how we intend to proceed. And I ask you all if you could accommodate this request. Thank you.

The Illinois Municipal League has raised some additional issues relating to Amendment No. 2. We want to be able to address those. So that which is reflected in No. 2, plus which addresses the Municipal League’s concern, we’re going to address that in the House and bring it back here to the Senate to concur.

So is it fair to say, for purposes for today, this isn’t final action and that you intend to make some changes in the House and come back, and the Senate will have the opportunity to -- to revisit and -- and affirm those changes?
