Thanks, Dave. Since last Friday when we left here, it has come to my attention that I, too, lost a constituent from Tinley Park, Corporal Kevin Clarke of the Marine Corps. Much like yourself, he was ready -- your young man in -- from your district, he was ready to be coming home in March. He just celebrated his twenty-first birthday January 22nd in Iraq. And so I would also like to share this moment with your soldier in having a moment of silence from the Senate.

And there’s a little loophole in our Criminal Code regarding sex offenders: If they have students in the school, they don’t have to report to the principal. And this bill closes that loophole. And even if they do have students in the school, they still have to report to the principal. I’d appreciate an Aye vote.

Yes. This bill amends the aggravated arson statute within the Criminal Code. It arises out of situations where inmates have been starting fires and correctional officers are injured as a result. It adds correctional officers to the aggravated arson statute. Where, as it currently stands, when police officers or firefighters are injured, it’s -- it’s -- arson is elevated to aggravated arson, and this would just add correctional officers to that class.
