PRESIDING OFFICER: (SENATOR DeLEO) Please state your point, sir.

John O. Jones (R)

Today we’re honored to have the Opdyke-Belle-Rive grade school here with us. They’re up above the Democrats there on the -- on that side of the aisle. If they -- if the Senate would welcome them to Springfield.

James A. DeLeo (D)

PRESIDING OFFICER: (SENATOR DeLEO) Would our guests in the galleries please rise and be recognized? Welcome to the Illinois State Senate. Senator Righter, thank you, it’s a very good point. We’ve just been notified -- the Chair’s been notified that it -- they should not be in meeting while we are in Session. Staff has just called the Chairman Parke to let them know. As you know, the announcement was yesterday that JCAR had a meeting scheduled for Session time and that was -- the -- the Senate asked them to cancel that meeting while we’re in Session. The same is going on as we speak right now. They’re notifying Chairman Parke -- to -- to stop the proceedings while we’re in Session. Thank you for… Senator Righter.

Dale A. Righter (R)

Will the Chair allow a few minutes for our Members to return to the Floor before resuming the 2nd Readings?

James A. DeLeo (D)

PRESIDING OFFICER: (SENATOR DeLEO) I’ll go very slow.

Dale A. Righter (R)

Thank you.

James A. DeLeo (D)

PRESIDING OFFICER: (SENATOR DeLEO) Senator Burzynski.

J. Bradley Burzynski (R)

Thank you, Mr. President. I might have a solution for you. We would request a Republican Caucus for thirty minutes, please.

James A. DeLeo (D)

PRESIDING OFFICER: (SENATOR DeLEO) As you know, Senator, that request is always in order. The 34 STATE OF ILLINOIS 94th GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 28th Legislative Day 4/12/2005 Republican Senators have requested a Republican Caucus in Senator Watson’s Office immediately. The hour of ten o’clock -- they’re requesting a thirty-minute caucus. The Senate will stand at ease until the hour of 10:30. Senator Jones. Senator -- President Jones, for what purpose do you rise?

John O. Jones (R)

Yeah. Thank you, Mr. President. We were attempting to move along in an orderly manor so that we could adjourn this evening. But, evidently, with the caucus taking place and committees getting ready to be heard, I want to let each -- all the Members know that after -- at the conclusion of the committee hearings this evening we will be back in Session because we must get the paperwork moving. So, therefore, we will be back in Session after we recess for the committee hearings.

James A. DeLeo (D)

PRESIDING OFFICER: (SENATOR DeLEO) Okay. Before we go to caucuses, once again, President Jones -- the last committee meeting today is Higher Education at the hour of 5 o’clock. So, the announcement is, after Higher Ed meets at the hour of 5 p.m., we will be returning to the Floor for Floor action. The Senate will stand in recess to the hour of 10:30 -- we’ll… Okay. One further announcement for the Members, because there is a caucus the Senate will stand in recess to the call of the Chair, but immediately after the Republican Caucus, committees will go into effect. So immediately after the caucus we’ll be going to committees and then returning to the Floor later today. So the Senate will stand in recess to the Call of the Chair after committee meetings and we will -- the Senate will reconvene to receive committee reports and for further Floor action. So the Senate stands in recess to the call of the Chair. (SENATE STANDS IN RECESS/SENATE RECONVENES)

James A. DeLeo (D)

PRESIDING OFFICER: (SENATOR DeLEO) Senate will come to order. Madam Secretary, Committee Reports, please.
