And she plans on pursuing her love of the arts, both visual and spoken, in Southern California in June and will be attending college there. Her current goal is to study film, become a director. It'll allow her to make a social impact in an artistic way in a rapidly growing field. Seven years ago I came into the Senate and one of the first people that I met was Lisa Sims, who's been my Communications person all seven years. And in the first five 9 STATE OF ILLINOIS 99th GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 24th Legislative Day 3/25/2015 years, we had a turnover of thirty Senators in the Senate, but today Lisa Sims celebrates thirty years here working in the Capitol. And she has worked for six different Governors, numerous Senators and Senate Presidents, and she also graduated from Freeport, Illinois, which happens to be in the 45th District, and has represented the last -- worked with the last three Senators, Rigney and Sieben and -- and myself, and she does a magnificent job. We couldn’t do and I couldn’t do what I do without her. And she asked me one time, she said, "Do you still want me as your Communications advisor?" And I said, "You're not getting out until I do." So you got to stick around for a while. And we appreciate so much what you've done, and congratulations. And please congratulate her. And -- and I'm also supposed to announce that in 309 there's cake afterwards. So please congratulate Lisa.

Mr. President, over the weekend, I was able to attend the St. 10 STATE OF ILLINOIS 99th GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 24th Legislative Day 3/25/2015 Ignatius Gloriam fundraiser to raise money for scholarship funds. I'm sure you are well acquainted with that event and have probably spent an awful lot of money at those events in the past. I was very pleased to note that both Senator Mulroe and Senator Kotowski had donated Page for a Day programs to St. Ignatius, but I was very disappointed to get the following text message: I have been out bid on my item Page for a Day. Senator Kotowski. It was a fierce bidding war. I had been hoping to learn something by sitting at the feet of the master and to serve as a Page for a Day for Senator Kotowski. If he would be willing to entertain it, I would be happy to match the closing price of his bid if he would have me as Page for a Day, in support of St. Ignatius.

Thank you very much, Mr. President and Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate. Senate Resolution 149 designates March 26, 2015, as Illinois Epilepsy Advocacy Day in the State of Illinois. We began doing this in previous General Assemblies, where we declared -- adopted a resolution that designated March 26, last year, as Purple Day. The reason in doing this is to raise awareness about the number of people in our State who are impacted by epilepsy and live with seizure disorders. It's a great way to make sure that people have that awareness. There are about fifty thousand people a year who die from epilepsy-related causes and it's tragic for them and their families. I, fortunately, while living with epilepsy, I have not experienced a lot of those difficulties, but there are other people who have and other families who have. And, quite frankly, this is a way to raise awareness and make sure people who are advocating for epilepsy awareness have an opportunity to do just that. Thank you very much. I'd simply ask for an Aye vote.
