He helped with the pilot program for medical marijuana and a number of other complicated topics. He was working this morning on another complicated bill involving insurance companies and the -- and Big Pharma. His technical expertise is beyond question. We on the committee, and especially me, have relied upon him over the years. He has never failed to provide good counsel. He is sometimes considered to be the chief undertaker to the Grim Reaper on the committee. But his role was to ameliorate and come to a consensus, and I would hope that we would join him. Sheriff Marketti 35 STATE OF ILLINOIS 99th GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 73rd Legislative Day 1/13/2016 spent thirty-five years in law enforcement with the Grundy County Sheriff's Office. He was very active in his community outside of law enforcement, involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters and many organizations. And we'd like to honor him and remember him with this resolution.

Thank you, Mr. President. (House) Joint Resolution 99 would designate a period -- a place -- excuse me, a part of Vermilion County roadway, which is Illinois Route 1, and rename it "Sergeant Kenneth R. Nichols, Jr. Memorial Highway". Sergeant Nichols is a son of Vermilion County who gave his life in service of our country in Afghanistan in 2009.
