"I had the joy of watching Revenue Committee last week and there was a lot of interesting talk about the State of Minnesota. And I want to mention to the Body, and I brought a few copies here, I wrote an Op-Ed about Minnesota in February. I'll give you some highlights, I will save the ending. You'll have to read it to hear the great ending. But as… as we're having all the talk about taxes and stuff, I want to talk about the whole picture of Minnesota and some of the differences between our states. They also actually are able to provide quality education while still spending less per student. Ladies and Gentlemen of the House, House Resolution… House Joint Resolution 93 designates Interstate 74 as it travels from mile post 155 to 160, near Farmersville, as the 'Trooper Ryan Albin Memorial Highway'. Trooper Albin… Albin was from Bellflower. He died on June 28, 2017 due to a vehicle accident while on duty. Trooper loved growing up on a farm and loved his fellow Bellflower community. Officer Albin leaves behind two children, Stella Grace and Charlie Robert, his parents and two sisters. Trooper Albin graduated from Blue Ridge High School in Farmers City where he was a multisport athlete. He later earned his Bachelor's Degree from Eureka College and was accepted into the Illinois State Police Academy Class 111 in 2006. Ryan served eleven and a half years for the State Police and was awarded as District 6 Officer of The Year in 2015. He was also awarded numerous department commendations and awards for his exemplary criminal interdiction work on DUI enforcement. Steve Riesenberg, Commander of District 6 issued a statement saying that Trooper Ryan Albin was loved by his peers. The nurse, the flight paramedic, and also the patient were all killed in this helicopter. Larry Mills grew up in Marine, Illinois, went to Triad High School, was a Marine volunteer fireman for 12 years. He was an exceptional pilot. He went on and signed contracts with the United States Army and Air Force training pilots. It is for Joseph Laur. He came to the United States from Canada in 1833. He was a flat boater, traveled on the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. His family are important members of the Woltenville area and are very important to the history of that region. Moved to Knob Hill in Jefferson County in 1841. He was nicknamed 'Cap', fought in the battles of Fort Donelson, Shiloh, Corinth, and the Red River Expedition, and then also at the siege of Vicksburg. He was injured and discharged from the Union Army in 1865. And this Resolution would rename the bridge over the Big Muddy River east of Waltonville on Route 148, the 'Captain Joseph Laur Memorial Bridge'. And I ask for an 'aye' vote."

A new ranking from Consumer Finance Site, Wallet Hub, ranks the Land of Lincoln among the most fun states in the country. With pure enjoyment in mind, they compared 50 states and they range from a whole range of costs. And Illinois, while our weather may be unpredictable that doesn’t mean there is a shortage of fun things to do in the Land of Lincoln on an objective basis, so there's lots to do and we're one of the most fun states in the Union.
