Hardworking men and women across Illinois have worked hard to provide a home for their families. The thing most of us never expect was the burden and weight of these ever- increasing property taxes in all of our districts. The relentless rise in property taxes has put an immense strain on the financial well-being of countless individuals and families in each of our districts. For many the dream of homeownership has turned into a nightmare of unmanageable tax hikes, expenditures for individuals and families. This is not just a matter of inconvenience. It is a matter of financial stability in the very fabric of our communities. We cannot turn a blind eye to the fact that the ever-increasing property taxes are pushing hardworking families to the brink of forcing many to consider selling their homes to seek refuge in cheaper and sometimes questionable areas. This is… not only disrupts the lives of individual and families but also destabilizes our neighborhoods and our communities. Therefore, I urge my follow policymakers to heed the call of the people of the State of Illinois, take action to freeze and limit the burden of property taxes that are placing on individuals and families in our state. It is imperative that we put an end to the relentless cycle of tax hikes that are squeezing the life out of our hardworking families.
