Whereas the House of Representatives has learned that Tony Leone, through one quick, calm and decisive act of heroism, saved the life of Ms. Adeline Malinski; and whereas on the afternoon of March 6, 1985, Adeline Malinski was in Springfield to attend a two day seminar of legislative district office personnel and was having lunch at the Rathskeller dining room in the Capitol Building, when she suddenly choked while eating; and 7 STATE OF ILLINOIS 84th GENERAL ASSEMBLY HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TRANSCRIPTION DEBATE 12th Legislative Day March 7, 1985 whereas while others around were near panic, Tony Leone, our friend and Assistant House Clerk, who has had no formal training in lifesaving techniques, very calmly, forcefully and instinctively applied the Heimlich maneuver to save Ms. Malinski, and his action led to dislodging of the food SO that she could breathe normally again; and whereas every one at the scene was aware that Tony Leone did, in fact, save Ms. Malinski's life, and that had been chaotic and stressful minutes turned into a happy ending because of Tony's heroism; and whereas Tony's calm in responding to an emergency situation turned to nervousness afterwards when he suddenly realized what could have been. Therefore, be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the 84th General Assembly of the State of Illinois, that we commend Tony Leone, Assistant House Clerk, for his act of heroism on March 6, 1985, when his quick, alert and calm action saved the life of Ms. Adeline Malinski.
