To the Bill. 14 I… I did oppose the original legislation of various 15 concerns, but the Sponsor is correct that this is 16 essentially cleanup language, and it does one thing that we 17 had somewhat asked for before. The original underlying 18 Bill did not fully protect the rights of the birth parents 19 before 1946. Though this language does not give them the 20 right to decline their information being released, it does 21 allow them to indicate their wishes that they not be 22 contacted by the daughter or son. So, in that regard, it 23 does make the Bill a better piece of legislation.
