Thank you. Thank you, Madam President. In the early morning hours of Dr. Martin Luther King Day, Dr. -- our Pastor Thomas and his congregation lost their beautiful church to a fire in the -- in the sanctuary. It was a complete loss and, obviously, a huge blow to the good people of Mt. Olive. And so I just wanted us all to keep Dr. -- or Pastor Thomas and his congregation in our prayers and thank him again for coming today when you've got a million details I'm sure to attend to, trying to figure out where your congregation is going to meet. But we appreciate you coming on this cold day today.

On January 12th, 2019, at approximately 4:43, Trooper Christopher Lambert, No. 6527, was…(microphone cutout…)…was on the scene of a three-vehicle crash on the left lane of I-294 near Willow Road. While he was handling that crash, another vehicle failed to stop and struck Trooper Lambert while he was outside of his patrol car. Trooper Lambert sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash, was transported to Glenbrook Hospital and succumbed to his injuries at about 7:24 p.m. Trooper Lambert began his career with the Illinois State Police on November 10th, 2013, as part of Cadet Class 123. Upon his graduation from the Academy, he was assigned to District 15 in Downers Grove and he had recently been assigned to District 15's Criminal Patrol Team. Throughout his career with the Illinois State Police, Trooper Lambert was recognized for his hard work, criminal interdiction efforts, and for being a rising leader amongst his peers. He exemplified the Illinois State Police motto of "Integrity, Service, Pride". Trooper Lambert grew up in Dayton, Ohio, where he attended elementary and high school, and he lived in Highland Park, served honorably in the United States Army and Army Reserve for eight years. He loved Chicago Cubs baseball and was an avid fan of the Chicago Blackhawks. Trooper Lambert is survived by his wife, his one-year-old daughter, and his parents. I would like to announce that Sunshine Clemons, the former Assistant to Senator Clayborne, will be leaving the General Assembly this week. Sunshine has worked with the General Assembly for fourteen years. She spent two years in the House with Annazette Collins and Lisa Dugan and fourteen years with the Majority Leader Clayborne. She has volunteered at the Illinois Black -- Legislative Black Caucus golf outing every single year that she's served and also with NCSL and NBCSL conferences several times and at some of our events in Chicago. Her daughter, Aria - -- oh! - her daughter, Aria, was practically raised under this Dome as a child. Now here she is in high school and working and serving us and learning the process as her mom knows. And so please join me in wishing Sunshine well in her new endeavors. Her last day is this Friday, so…

I just wanted to also speak on behalf of Sunshine. She -- she has been a godsend to me - way before I came to the Senate. I was calling Sunshine via James Clayborne. He would always say, "Call Sunshine". So way before I met Sunshine, I knew of Sunshine. And since my time here, you know, filling in for James his last week, you have been -- like I said, you -- you've done a yeoman's job for me in the -- in the time that I've been here. I thank God for you. I understand why you're leaving. It's a -- it's a decision that benefits you and your family, but I really hate to see you go. God bless you, and whatever you need from me between now and -- and whenever, just give me a call. Thank you for all your service.
