PRESIDING OFFICER: (SENATOR LINK) State your point.
Thank you, Mr. President. Just wanted to inform the Senate and make everyone aware, as you were driving down yesterday or the day before or last week, you probably saw a lot of orange cones popping up. It is construction season. This week marks "Work Zone Awareness Week". From 2013 to 2017, on average each year, there are fifty-three hundred and thirty-three work zone crashes, with fifteen hundred and forty people injured as a result. I would like to make sure that we, as we are driving, we also talk about, in our districts, people being safe, putting down your phones, and making sure we take care of our brothers and sisters that are 18 STATE OF ILLINOIS 101st GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 31st Legislative Day 4/9/2019 working in those work zones.
