Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate, I know that Senator Hunter introduced my predecessor, Senator Earlean Collins and Commissioner Collins, but I wanted you guys to know that she was so influential in my development and me arriving here after she'd served as the first woman ever to serve in Leadership in the Illinois Senate. I knew I had big shoes to fill and I was so concerned that I would not be able to step up to her caliber. After leaving here, she went on to serve as a Commissioner for another twenty years. Here's a woman who's dedicated her entire life to public service, so I just wanted to tell her thank you and let her know how much we love and appreciate her.
