The heart of Senate Bill 2665 is from an initiative of mine that passed in the prior General Assembly to reinstate a task force that would focus on creating a report on what our State government has done or not done to ensure that immigrant communities are being properly served by our government agencies. Senate Bill 2665 would do the following: It would change the name of the task force to the Illinois Immigrant Impact Task Force; it would change the sunset date to May 31st, 2022; and it also changes the amount of the committee members on the task force from twenty-four to twenty-eight. Additionally, other State agencies, including the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and a few other agencies, have been added to the task force. I ask for an Aye vote.
