Thank you. This nominee, although I would say probably his voting record is not as bad as some others who've been serving on the PRB, there are some votes that he has taken that are of great concern to me. One would be the issue of Paula Sims, where Paula Sims was convicted of killing two of her children, one of them only thirteen days old and then three years later another one of her children. Initially, she was being considered for the death penalty, was actually given life without parole, had her sentence commuted by Governor Pritzker to life with parole, and then, when coming before the PRB, was granted parole after having killed two of her children. I find that concerning. Another one, although that there are a couple, but another was inmate Zelma King who was convicted of three different murders, one of them was a woman and then two other murders besides that. This individual came before the PRB multiple times, and in each case was not given one vote - not one vote to release this individual. But coming before the present Parole Board which included Mr. Mears and also included a Yes vote to release Zelma King from -- from incarceration. That's another vote that gives me great pause and concern in regard to this nominee. So, I wanted to be sure that the Body knows that if you vote Yes to confirm this individual, you are voting Yes to 23 STATE OF ILLINOIS 102nd GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 97th Legislative Day 3/22/2022 confirm an individual who released a double murder -- murderer of her own children and a triple murderer that included a woman who was murdered. So please take that into consideration. I would recommend a No vote on this appointment, and ask that you join me in that vote. Thank you.

So, I'd like to follow up the previous conversation. Again, I know that one of the people that appeared today from the Prisoner Review Board was just rejected by the Senate. As Senator Bryant highlighted, he had a -- not the worst record of the people that appeared today. Five other people appeared; they were pulled from the script here, just a little while ago. It is my understanding that two of those people will reach their sixtieth session day on Monday.
