While the temporary Chamber does not have a gallery, members of the public can still view the Senate's proceedings. Last night, students at Michigan State University ran for their lives while shots rang out as a gunman opened fire on the campus. Students who were just doing their homework and hanging out with friends, tragically were killed because of the violent acts of another person. Mass shootings have become an all too common act happening in our community, that no group and no zip code is immune to. Today, I mourn the loss of these college students and grieve for their friends and family, as well as the Michigan State community as a whole. Please join me in a moment - - for a moment of silence to honor the student's lives.
