Thank you, Madam President. If I could have everyone's attention, I would really appreciate it. This is pertaining to the incredible item that's on every Member's desk in their office. So, if I could have everyone's attention during this announcement, I would really appreciate it. Thank you again, Madam President. I'd like to take some time today and share about an important, very important celebration 150 years in the making that many of you have been a part of, and may not realize it. Many of us in this room have been part of this rich history through cobblers on the 4th of July, or pies on Thanksgiving. Rendleman's Orchard is celebrating being in operation for 150 years. This five-generation 5  STATE OF ILLINOIS 103rd GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 36th Legislative Day 4/18/2023 operation is the is the basis to many beautiful treats throughout our great state. This history of Rendleman's is remarkable. Starting in 1873, when most businesses in America were collapsing. John and Isabelle Rendleman were just getting started. The couple staked a claim on 88 acres near Alto Pass in Union County. The Rendleman's planted deep family and business roots within the rolling hills that have stood the test of time. Today, the orchard is a vast 800 acres of agricultural phenomenon, employing hundreds and feeding millions. This orchard, housed in the 59th district, has served our state in many great ways. They helped save the future of many military veterans in Chicago during the Great Depression in the 1930's. These veterans sold the orchards apples along the streets of Chicago to help provide for their families. The years are many, and the harvest has been plenty and this wonderful hidden gem in my district. I would like to take time to pay respect to the five generations of Rendleman's who have strived to keep this orchard running, producing and feeding the masses. I'd like to share the names of these individuals, the original owners, John and Isabelle Rendleman. The second-generation Grover and Iva Rendleman. The third generation James and Mary Rendleman and Helen Rendleman. The fourth generation Wayne R. And Betty Sirles. And the fifth generation and current owners, Wayne D. And Michelle and Michelle Sirles, who are with us here today. I am proud to share this hidden gem nestled in Southern Illinois with you all today. I hope you will join me in my pride for such a great success in Illinois. A success that is no longer a hidden secret, but one celebrated by all of us here on the Capitol grounds. Senate Joint Resolution 33, offered by President Harmon, whereas Brandon Johnson, the Mayor-elect of the City of Chicago, will come to the city of Springfield, Illinois, on Wednesday, April 19th, 2023. And whereas, the Mayor-Elect will be in the capital city, while the 103rd General Assembly of the State of Illinois is in session. And whereas the Mayor-elect has been asked and has agreed to address a joint session of the two houses. Therefore, be it resolved by the Senate of the 103rd General Assembly of the State of Illinois, the House of Representatives concurring herein that the two houses shall invite Chicago Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson to address a joint session of this General Assembly, and be it further resolved, that the two houses shall convene in a joint session on April 19th, 2023, at the call of the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the Chamber of the House of Representatives for the purpose of hearing Chicago Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson address the General Assembly, and be it further resolved that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to mayor elect Johnson as a formal expression of this invitation, and of the respect and esteem in which he is held by the Members of the General Assembly.
