Thank you, Madam President. Senate Resolution 703 declares March 3rd, 2024, as Dyscalculia Awareness Day in the State of 2 STATE OF ILLINOIS 103rd GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 84th Legislative Day 2/22/2024 Illinois. Dyscalculia is a condition that affects one's ability to understand mathematical and quantitative concepts and tasks. Symptoms of dyscalculia are most likely to be present during childhood. The purpose of this resolution is to raise awareness for dyscalculia and help individuals to be able to recognize possible symptoms of this learning disability. Between 3 to 7 percent of all children, adolescents, and adults suffer from dyscalculia. However, many go undiagnosed due to a lack of understanding and recognition of dyscalculia. When it goes undiagnosed there is a risk of the individual developing depression and a decline in self-esteem. Treatment focuses on learning through repetition, positive reinforcement, tutoring, and teaching in a multisensory way. As a former special education teacher, this is something that we have -- I've had to deal with in the classroom to help try to find strategies for students, but many go undiagnosed. I'm just trying to bring attention to that with this resolution, and I thank you for your time.

Senate Resolution 750 declares 3 STATE OF ILLINOIS 103rd GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 84th Legislative Day 2/22/2024 the month of February 2024 as Career and Technical Education Month here in the State of Illinois. As many of you know, career and technical education is a vital part of our workforce development here in the State. And most importantly, today, CTE is at the forefront of putting equity into the workplace. And in particular, I know the Members can read the resolution for themselves, but I specifically want to welcome some beneficiaries of the equity that we place in career and technical education. We have a couple of folks from my district that have completed the Black Hawk College Highway Construction Training Program: Sonya Shepard and Sabrina Duncan. And they have the privilege of being with us here in Springfield today for a conference on their program. And they're here and they're out there every day telling other women that they can be in the construction trades and be successful and have a great career, have a debt free education that provides for them and their families going forward. And so, I urge all of you, to join me in adopting this resolution, welcoming them to Springfield along with their -- the folks from their administration office, Julie and Paul, that are doing things every day to make sure that we have the folks doing -- doing these jobs in the State of Illinois. So, I would ask for your Yes vote, and I -- please welcome them to Springfield. Thank you.
