I'm very pleased to have some very special guests in the Chamber with us this morning. It's my pleasure to introduce Mr. and Mrs. Ken and Jen Comperda, both residents of the City of St. Charles. Ken is currently retired after a 35 year career in advertising and was U.S. Finance Director with Omnicom Company -- Omnicom company. They are lifelong Fox Valley residents. His wife, Jen, is a long- standing real estate agent. The City of St. Charles has been very active in our river corridor efforts along the Fox River. And I would be remiss if I did not mention the great work that her father, Bob Leonard, did in the City of St. Charles, establishing the Fox River Corridor Commission to really continue to enhance our riverfront through the City of St. Charles. So, I would -- Welcome them to Springfield. It's also my great honor to introduce a gentleman that I have come to know and love in the City of St. Charles. Many of you have attended the Arcada Theater in St. Charles and most recently, Des Plaines Theater in Des Plaines, Illinois, two historic theaters in the Chicago metropolitan area. She's going to be doing an internship with John Deere in Moline. So, she's very, very, very excited.

Thank you, Mr. President. Yesterday, a group of intrepid Senate golfers endured a torrential drizzle to play in the first 13 STATE OF ILLINOIS 104th GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 45th Legislative Day 5/13/2025 ever Senate Cup. I see the Republican team assembling behind the trophy, I think you know how this will end. We had three teams of two Democrats versus Republicans. And as, Susie Glowiak Hilton and I watched our match slip away from us to a -- to a Senators Fowler and DeWitte. Cagey veterans both, we came to the conclusion well, Republicans should be better at golf. But our teams played well. Senator Castro and Senator Martwick came up just short in their match against Senator Bryant and Senator Hills and Senator Glowiak Hilton and I came in second in our match of two, bringing some measure of honor to the Senate Democrats. Senator Cunningham and Joyce did defeat Senators Lewis and Wilcox in a -- in a tough match. But we had not a Country Club Republican on our team. So, next year we're going to be back. We're going to take the same strategy here. I will point out Democrats do outnumber Republicans. Republicans have one -- one Member for each hole, including the nineteenth. So, that's a good sign but as Winston Churchill once said, "We will{sic} (shall) fight on the tee boxes{sic} (beaches), we will{sic} (shall) fight in the fairways{sic} (on the landing grounds, we will{sic} (shall) fight in the sand traps{sic} (fields and in the streets,) we will{sic} (shall) fight on the greens{sic} (hills); and we will win{sic} (we shall never surrender.") But congratulations. Oh, congratulations to all the winners enjoy the trophy for the year. We'll do it again next year and look forward to the rematch and I do -- I did -- I gave some of you but not all of you Senate Democratic branded golf balls. So, I will distribute this to the remaining Republican winners. Fair warning, they go left.

So, I said, "let's get through this." And we had a great time and something to build on next year as the inaugural Senate Cup this year. So, congratulations to both sides.
