I am here today to recognize some very special guests that we have in the Chamber today. Representative Coffey and I are joined by Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon, Madison County Coroner Nick Novacich and a group of coroners from across the State of Illinois. We would like to offer sincere thanks for the work that they do every single day on behalf of our community. Your profession is one where most people don't see up close, but it impacts families everywhere. Families rely on you during some of the hardest moments of their life -- lives. You work at the intersection of public safety, public health, and the justice system, often quietly, often without recognition, but always with enormous responsibility. You're the ones responding to death scenes, public health emergencies, national -- natural disasters, and acts of violence. You work side by side with law enforcement, fire service, EMS, and other first responders, often in challenging environments and under emotional strain. And through all of that, you bring professionalism, compassion, and commitment to getting it right. Today, we formally recognize the essential role Coroners play in public safety, emergency response, and accountability. Your work is critical to the systems our communities depend on, and acknowledging that role strengthens coordination and affirms the seriousness of the responsibilities you carry. So, to each of you, thank you. Thank you for your service, for your integrity, and your dedication to the people you serve.
