Congressman Claude Pepper. The longest-serving Congressman in the history of this country. Congressman Pepper, a man of great compassion, was a strong advocate for the poor, senior citizens, health care and many other issues that we address in the Committee on Healthy Welfare and Corrections. It is interesting that one person, such as Congressman Pepper, could have a significant impact on an institution as large and as complicated as the U.S. House.
