And this morning we had, as our keynote speaker, a young lady al1 the way from Los Angeless California . Her name is Joy Picus -- Picus. And she represents the San Fernando Valley on the Los Angeles City Council. She was first elected in 1977, and is currently serving her fourth-year term there. Joy has earned her reputation as an effective and responsive public official who gets the job done. Councilwoman Picus -- may have your attention please? Thank you very kindly. We have guests. Thank you. Councilwoman Picus chairs the city council's Human Resource and Labor Relations Committee, which sets policy for Los Angeles' forty-one thousand municipal employees. Her agenda focuses on humanizing the workplace. Recognizing that city employees must juggle family and work responsibilities. During her tenure, the city council has opened a civic center child care facility, jointly financed by the city and the federal government. And the landmark Family Leave Agreement was negotiated for the city's clerical employees. My dear friends, Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate, I'm proud at this time to bring to you, for remarks, Miss Joy Picus. Please receive her.

I would guess that we might have an hour's testimony from both the Economic and Fiscal Commission and the Taxpayers Federation to get us kind of back up to date on both property tax issues and fiscal background issues. So it is -- we will not be voting on anything . There are no bills before us at the moment. But I think it will be very useful. It will be fifteen minutes after adjournment in Room 212. Thank you.
