We are going to be doing 2nd Readings today, and so I want to make the Members aWare of that. And also, We have some committee hearings this afternoon and a 1ot of work to be done. So if we can move through this quickly, the Chair would certainly appreciate that. 2nd Readings. Any further amendments? 3rd Reading. Senator Demuzio , for what purpose do you arise?
Well, just a couple things. I -- I notlced you asked for amendments -- Floor amendments on this bill, and I know wedre not moving bills that have amendments filed. But what happens to bills that have amendments that are filed that are not on our marked Calendar? Are you asking for amendments from those bills as well? And that's one question. The second question is, when we -- when you adopt the adjournment resolution, don't you have to suspend the rules, because that is in your rules in order to adopt, instead of just adopting the resolution?
That was a committee amendment. There was no Floor amendments whatsoever. Senator Demuzio. 5 STATE OF ILLINOIS 88TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 24th Legislative Day March l8, 1993
I understand that, and wefre not moving bills that have committee -- that have Floor amendments that have been filed that are on the marked Calendar, as you 've indicated.
That is correct.
But doesn't a Member -- what happens if a Member comes up and gives you an amendment for the bills that you are not calllng? You're just going to skip those as Well? Is that right?
Senator Demuzio, my attitude would bey talk to the sponsor. If the sponsor wants the bill held , I thlnk We ought to do that. If they want it moved or would bring it back to 2nd Readingr I don't have any problem With that at all. Senate Bill 30. Senator O'Malley. Senate -- Senate Bill 30. Senator O 'Malley. Read the bill.
