Ladies and Gentlemen, we have been blessed, on both sides of the aisle, in the Illinois General Assembly, and especially here in the Senate, with outstanding individuals who serve us in staff positions. And we couldn't do the work we do, and we're very fortunate to have individuals dedicated to helping us pass laws and communicate that message to the public. And in particularly, one individual I have found is leaving us. And that is Sharon Brown. Sharon Brown's been with the General Assembly for thirteen years in total. I had the privilege of knowing her in the beginning in the House, when she served there for seven years. And she came to the Senate and has worked very well, and she's been with the Senate for six years. And we are aware that Sharon is -- is leaving to be the Deputy Press Secretary for the Illinois State Treasurer, Judy Baar Topinka. And I just want to thank Sharon for years of hard work and outstanding service to the citizens of Illinois and wish her well as Deputy Press Secretary for the State Treasurer. So join me in welcoming Sharon Brown and congratulating her on years of service.

He's been working very diligently for the Illinois Senate, and he will be leaving us after today, going to the Illinois Development Finance Authority, for a pay raise and more responsibility. And we wish him the best of luck, and congratulations to Jim Downing.

And believe it or not, he's been working in the Senate for me for sixteen years; before that, five years with Governor Thompson. He's a valuable staffer. When I want to get something done, I know where I go. I go to Jim Owen and he will get it done. We're going to miss you. I know you're going to bigger and better things. And just in case you didn't know it, he's going to, probably, be lobbying us, at about ten times the salary he's been making here. So, congratulations. Good luck.
