Thank you, Mr. President and Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate. Senate Amendment No. 2 to House Bill 754 becomes the bill, and what the bill does is allows a school district within my legislative district, Manhattan School District 114, to issue bonds, to be approved by a referendum, in an amount, including existing indebtedness, up to twenty-five percent of the equalized assessed valuation of taxable property in the district. The funds raised through the sale of bonds will be used to construct a new elementary school to accommodate the district’s increasing student population. The need of this piece of legislation is, is that there is a referendum by School District 114 on the March primary and we are trying to give them the opportunity to increase their indebtedness to be approve -- be approved by a vote of the voters of the school district on March the 16th. I’d be more than glad to answer any questions.

Rickey R. Hendon (D)
