Now, a handful of these individuals are also represented by Senator Frerichs in the 52nd Senate District. They are Beth Larson, Megan Maidens, Kaylin Hampton, Colby Mumm, Krysten Reed, Josh Gavel, Kennedy Smith, Bailey Wilson, Kate Stoker and Ashley Eisenmenger. The reason these kids are so important, Mr. President, is because they and a whole bunch of other students were asked to write an essay on what the American flag meant to them. And these are the writers of the ten best essays that were submitted. The reward was to come here to Springfield and see how State government works firsthand. So I would ask the Senate if you’d be so kind as to give them a nice warm round of applause. I just want to remind everyone in the Chamber that this 7 STATE OF ILLINOIS 96th GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 46th Legislative Day 5/12/2009 evening, at the Executive Mansion, the Niagara Foundation - which is also one of the entities that underwrote the trip to Turkey last year and will be involved again in the trip this year - they’ll be at the Executive Mansion this evening from 5:30 to 7:30. And they would love to see as many legislators over there as possible. Governor Quinn is scheduled to speak at 6. And Speaker Madigan at 6:15. Thank you very much, Mr. President.

They defeated A-C Central back in the State championship in three games. They have a combined record -- season record of thirty-nine and three. This is the first State title in the history of the school for the Eastland Cougars. At this time, I’d like to welcome them and to have Coach Kristy Pierce come and speak.

Thank you, Mr. President. This Body may remember that a few weeks ago -- in fact, last week we actually confirmed the resolutions. But back in March, we noted that three young servicemen from Delta Company, the 178th Infantry that are stationed in the armory in Woodstock, lost their lives in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, we received word this weekend that another one of those young gentlemen, from Crystal Lake, lost his life. His name is Lukasz Saczek. He is twenty-three years old. He has a six-week-old son {sic}. And what I would like to do in the Chambers at this particular point is honor him by giving him a moment of silence.
