And I think most of you know, but for those of you who may be new, the National Conference of State Legislators {sic} is the nation's 4 STATE OF ILLINOIS 97th GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 78th Legislative Day 2/7/2012 largest and only bipartisan organization of state legislators and their staff. NCSL provides legislators from across the country with informational resources and services on a range of policy issues. NCSL also serves as the advocate on Capitol Hill for state legislatures on a wide -- excuse me, a wide array of state and federal issues, be it transportation, health care, Medicaid, insurance regulation, et cetera. And most importantly - most importantly - the State of Illinois is hosting the annual Summit for the National Conference of State Legislators {sic} this year, from August 6th to the 9th. And we're encouraging all of our Members to save those dates and plan to attend. Thank you, Madam President. Today, I'm pleased to introduce to our Body Aidan Cronin, the Consulate General of Ireland. This weekend I was at an event where we talked a little bit about the history of our country. It was the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. And we spoke about the bonds around the world and the pride we have of being a nation of immigrants. I myself am a fifth generation Irish American, so it's very -- a great honor for me to introduce the Consulate General of Ireland. I've been to Ireland a few times and have great respect for the people there. The Consulate General has made it his mission to build a lasting relationship between Ireland and the United States based on the economic, the political, the cultural and other links between our two countries. He has focused on the commonalities not the divisions, while leveraging our strengths not our weaknesses. So it's a -- it's a model policy for foreign relations and one that we hope to embrace here in Springfield. So, Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate, the Consulate General of Ireland, Aidan Cronin.
