Ladies and Gentlemen, Senator LaHood, to make a introduction. SENATOR LaHOOD: Well, thank you, Mr. President. And it's my pleasure to be here today to present the Brimfield Indians, who are 1A State Champs this year in Illinois. And I'm proud to represent Coach Carlson and Coach Kreiter and their Athletic Director, Mr. Blane, here today, to honor them on their -- their victory in the State Championship. I just want to tell you a little bit about 2 STATE OF ILLINOIS 99th GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 27th Legislative Day 4/14/2015 Brimfield's path to the IHSA State Championship. They beat a total of four State-ranked opponents. The postseason began with wins over Peoria Heights and Elmwood, then they beat the number two State-ranked team, Peoria Christian, and they won the Peoria Heights Regional. In winning the Lewistown Sectional, Brimfield defeated fellow Prairieland conference member Abingdon in the first game, followed by number three-ranked Springfield Lutheran by a score of 59-37. Brimfield earned a trip to Peoria with a Jacksonville Super-Sectional Championship win over number -- number seven-ranked Okawville. And I don't see Coach Luechtefeld here, but he was kind enough to come meet the boys earlier and wish them well. After that, facing their fourth ranked opponent in the postseason, Brimfield defeated number four-ranked Colfax Ridgeview 53-34 in the semifinals. And in that game - Carson, where are you at? - Carson, back here, he set an IHSA all-time Class 1A record for points in a championship game with thirty-two points, leading Brimfield to their first State Championship with a 56-52 win over Mounds Meridian, and the Brimfield Indians finished the season with a school record 34 wins and 2 losses. I'm very, very proud to present to you the 1A State Champs from Peoria County, the Brimfield Indians. And I would also acknowledge Senator Dave Koehler, who represents part of Peoria County, is here with us today to congratulate them. And now I'll have Coach Carlson say a few words. This bill -- you may recall, over the past year or so, we were trying to educate the Members of the -- of -- of the Chamber about 3D technology. It's a new technology that helps in detecting breast cancer. The 3D image, if you recall, is looking like at a deck of cards and slicing through the deck of cards. And it's a -- a better technology to detect cancer. We had two women that 17 STATE OF ILLINOIS 99th GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 27th Legislative Day 4/14/2015 appeared in -- in the Insurance Committee, Jennifer Hoef and Linda Racki, who told stories about how the -- the current technology, 2D, did not detect breast cancer, the 3D did, and they -- they believe their life was saved by it. Initially, we wanted to mandate the coverage for this great technology. Met with some resistance. We pulled off, made it permissive, because Blue Cross, Blue Shield has indicated they are covering it, and we hope the rest of the insurance industry falls in line. And I'm going to keep an eye on 'em, and if they aren't, we're going to come back next year. But, for now, it's permissive language. I don't believe there's any opposition. It's great technology. It's going to save women's lives and also reduce callbacks and all the anxiety that goes along with that. So I'd ask for your favorable vote.

So it's a specific enterprise, which we've asked for no money from the State, and we would ask to reduce this to one percent, which is worth two hundred thousand a year, which will go to flood protection. Basically what it'd do is empower 37 STATE OF ILLINOIS 99th GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 27th Legislative Day 4/14/2015 the Cook County Board to end the practice of forcing senior citizens to annually reapply for their senior home owner's exemption. And in addition to that, it will require the Cook County Assessor and Recorder of Deeds Office to set up a system that automatically cancels senior exemptions whenever a property is sold. This will help prevent younger homeowners from improperly inheriting the senior exemption when they buy their home from a senior. I know of no opposition. Yes, my understanding is that back in the nineties the Special Olympics of Illinois had a checkoff box. This includes both Illinois and Chicago. But they did previously, yes.

Obviously, we are the home and the burial place of Abraham Lincoln. We have a special affinity for him and for the cause for which he died, which was freedom for all citizens. So it's important for us just to note that today; that this nation was not born and this nation has not been saved except through courage and blood, as well as tears and commitment. Thank you.
