And notwithstanding predictions that their youth would prevail over the AARP members in our Chamber, the old adage of -- the old story of the tortoise beating the hare, particularly with Mike Connelly and -- and Steve Stadelman coming through clutch in the second half; and our resident wrestler, Neil Anderson, making his presence and his body felt - if we could just get him to pass the ball after he gets a rebound instead of dribbling; and our -- and our linebacker, Napoleon Harris, getting rebounds; and us all coming together, we prevailed and, again, we prevailed over the commoners and the House of the Lords rule again, as we will in the softball game next month.

So I told her that all -- what that means is she can help people in developing countries with water projects and power projects. No. Just as sort of a -- a -- a woman testified in the committee - just to give you an idea what we're talking about here - her name was Janell Wheeler. She had been charged, I think about two hundred and fifty times, for -- for prostitution and she was forced to sell her body at the hands of some unscrupulous moron, and if she did not, the injuries she suffered for -- during the course of the -- this time, was a ruptured eardrum, which required surgery. She was burned with curling irons. She -- he broke her bones. Well, that's what we're talking about, someone who is forced to be a prostitute by someone who is using her to make money off her. Thank you, Mr. President. You caught me just as I was signing a congratulary {sic} note here for Senator Anderson on his first bill. I would like to remind everybody that this is not my first bill. So this is not my first bill. Mr. President, Senate Bill 1582 amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to provide that a driver who willfully violates regulations pertaining to motor vehicle carrier drivers' hours of service shall be guilty of a Class 3 felony when the violation was a proximate cause of great bodily harm or death to another person. It further provides that any person other than the driver - and that could be the employer - who willfully violates regulations pertaining to motor carrier drivers' hours of service shall be guilty of a Class 2 felony when the violation was a proximate cause of great bodily harm or death to another person. So, this is an initiative, Mr. President -- or Mr. President, of our DuPage County State's Attorney, Bob Berlin. This is in connection with two very serious accidents that took place within the last year and our State's Attorney felt that he could not sentence -- charge and sentence the individuals involved with the appropriate penalty. So what he's seeking is an enhancement to a level that's commensurate with the crime. And I think it's important to note that we're not just punishing the drivers in this situation, but we're actually going to punish more severely the employers who are, in a lot of situations, pushing these 67 STATE OF ILLINOIS 99th GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 28th Legislative Day 4/15/2015 drivers to drive more than they're supposed to.
