PRESIDING OFFICER: (SENATOR MUÑOZ) The regular Session of the 99th General Assembly will please come to order. Will the Members please be at their desks? Will our guests in the galleries please rise? The invocation today will be given by Senator Koehler.
Thank you, Mr. President. Well, it's an exciting day for us here in the State Capitol. It's very much like our favorite son is coming home and we have to remember this is where the political roots of President Obama began. And so it's with this excitement, this anticipation, that I offer a prayer for this day. I've done this on several occasions and I've used the Prayer of St. Francis, which is my favorite prayer. I thought I don't want to repeat that too often, so I'm giving a prayer today that is written by Desmond Tutu, Archbishop Emeritus of Cape Town, South Africa, and I think it's very appropriate. If you'd join me in an attitude of prayer and reflection. (Prayer by Senator Koehler)
