Thank thank you, Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate. I was just reflectin: on my good friend Senator Geo-Karis' seventy-fifth birthday, and I've probably known her, quite frankly, longer than most people in this Body. And I was thinking back to the first time I met you, Geo, and you probably don't remember but I remember in 1964, in the primary, was campaigning for Elmer Hoffman for Secretary of State. And was up in Lake County speaking at a political gathering; in that gathering was Senator Geo-Karis. I'm just trying to remember what she was running for in those days, but that was the first time that I met her. We had become friends...tmicrophone malfunctionl...is it on? Okay, I'm sorry. I can remember campaigning with her up in Lake County, and we becane friends thenr and we 've been friends since 1964. To say that she has been active may be an understatement of the year. She 's been a precinct committeemanr a township chairman, active in the Woman's Federation. She's been in the House, the Senate. She was the -- the Mayor of Zion and did a great job, and she's always been a dear, dear friend. Geo, we love you, another happy seventy-five. 2 STATE OF ILLINOIS 88TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGULAR SESSION SENATE TRANSCRIPT 29th Legislative Day March 30, 1993 know that anybody can do it, you can do
