Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate, today I'd like to take a moment to recognize someone from my district, a fallen soldier. His name is Captain Reid B. Nannen of Hopedale. He passed away on March 1st, 2014, due to injuries sustained in an F/A-18C Hornet crash at the Fallon Grange Training Complex, in Fallon, Nevada. Captain Nannen's awards and decorations include the NATO Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Global War of {sic} (on) Terrorism Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, and the Air Medal. Captain Nannen is survived by his wife, Sarah; his sons, Peter and Curtis; and his daughters, Betsy and Isla. I'd ask the Illinois Senate to recognize his service to our country with a moment of silence.
